ebookers was formed in 1999, by Dinesh Dhamija, but its origins go back almost 20 years when
Flightbookers Ltd was founded in 1983. Flightbookers grew into one of the UK's biggest travel
agencies and in 1996 established the first interactive travel website in the UK. Three years later
Flightbookers decided to seperate the internet arm and ebookers.com was born.
In February 2005, ebookers.com was bought by Travelport. Travelport is one of the world’s largest
and most geographically diverse travel companies dedicated to creating exceptional travel experiences.
ebookers specialises in discount air fares. They are in constant contact with the world's
most trusted airlines to negotiate the best value for their customers. They can offer a huge
selection of 2 million discounted fares from over 120 airlines.
The packages which include flights and flight only bookings are ATOL protected by the
Civil Aviation Authority (except when tickets for scheduled flights are sent to you within
24 hours of payment being accepted or in relation to low cost flights). Their ATOL number is
ATOL 2562. Protection extends primarily to customers who book and pay in the United Kingdom.
