MyTravel Group is a package holiday company based in the UK. The
group includes brands such as Airtours, Aspro, Cresta, Direct Holidays, Escapades,
Manos and Panorama in the UK, Sunquest and ALBA Tours in North America, and Ving,
Always, Tjæreborg, Spies, Skibby, MyTravel Tango, Bridge and Saga Solreiser in Scandinavia.
The company also includes an in-house airline, MyTravel Airways.
The group was founded by David Crossland when he purchased Pendle Travel Services, a
travel agency business comprising two stores in Lancashire in 1972. A second travel agency
business was acquired shortly after from Albert and Ivy Roberts who had registered it using
their initials, A.I.R. Tours. The Airtours name was born. The group began operating package
holidays and launched its own in-house charter airline, in the early 1980s.
MyTravel Airways UK will operate a round-the-world service on the 27 February 2007, departing
Manchester. Destinations are New York, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Sydney, Kato Kinabalu, Beijing, Delhi,
Dubai, Cape Town and Cairo.
MyTravel was awarded the Most Punctual UK Charter Airline 2006 aswell as the Most Improved UK
Charter Airline for punctuality Summer 2006 by Flightontime.info. Data is derived from statistics published monthly
by the Civil Aviation Authority. MyTravel Airways was also awarded for being the most improved UK charter
airline. The CAA Air Transport Users Council awarded MyTravel "Most Punctual UK Charter Airline - Winter 2005/2006".
